The vision for the Full Moon Trading Co. is to create a general store feel, with a front porch where customers can relax and chat with friends. The store will sell a variety of items, including her estate sale items and products from local artisans. Visitors can expect to find unique and antique items at a fraction of the price they would pay in nearby cities like Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, or Richmond.
In the roaring 1920s it was a theater. People would watch the silent movies while ragtime was played on a piano. "The Birth of a Nation" was the most popular film shown with people lining the block to see the movie.
Mr. Whitehead and family operated a grocery and merchandise store where wagons pulled by donkeys would pick up seed and feed. Elsie Alhizer (Vaught) opened an antique shop in the late 1940s. Recently it was home to Mineral Thrift. People around the area refer to it as the building with the plywood siding and wire fencing around the front porch.
Ms. Moon and her family built on Lake Anna in 2001. During the pandemic, they sold their Maryland home and moved to the lake full time. As she unpacked, she realized that she had just about two of everything and needed a way to sell the items. Lake Anna Auctions, which later evolved into Lake Anna Estate Sales, was formed in 2021.
As a Realtor, Ms. Moon is a one-stop resource for families and seniors. She earned her Seniors Real Estate Specialist® designation from the National Association of Realtors® and uses her knowledge and skills to help with downsizing and hosting an Estate Sale before listing their home. For the last two years, Lake Anna Estate Sales has been operating out of a family-owned barn in Mineral. Just about every Saturday, Debbie opened the barn for people to come browse and buy items they may need. Last month she closed the (barn) doors on the business to focus on getting her new location ready. She hopes to open a store to continue to help seniors and their families when they need to sell their home and possessions they no longer need or want to pack.
